BOWIE
Early last week, I attended the launch for Bowies new season AW2010 collection. In collaboration with the White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale to celebrate Art Month in Sydney by uniting elements of fashion and sculptural art under one roof.
Bowies AW2010- 'Through the Rabbit Hole' was based around Supernatural Wonder and Imperfect Romance.
Having been truly inspired by the simplicity of Bowie's work in the past, I was really looking forward to having the first sneak peak into the return of the master of transeasonal.
To be honest, I was extremely disappointed in the collection and felt as though it was really forced. There was a MAJOR over kill of ruffles, skin tight sequined dresses and over beaded minis. Each look became more familiar to the previous, changing mostly only in length or colour....
On a brighter note, the mens wear he showcased was absolutely spot on!
The oversized sheer, draped t-shirts and cardigans where effortless and to R.I.P for!
Just when I thought I couldn't bare to see another off the shoulder over sized ruffle, there was an odd silence in the showing.... a look of disappointment... then a mafia of models walked out dressed head to toe in what we love best about BOWIE- transeasonal ready-to-wear pieces that are made exclusively in luxurious, ultra-fine 16-18 gauge cashmere..
If it had of been 3 days later, it would have been perfect being APRIL FOOLS!
Siiiigggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh- less is always more. Stick to what you do best.
And yes, paranormal romance is not always found in the shadows of existence.
